Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) Work Requirements went into effect on Sept. 1 because of HR1 (the Big Beautiful Bill). These work requirements state that many adults now need to work 20 hours per week to keep their benefits. These rules do not apply to people who meet an exemption. Those who are not exempt or working 20 hours a week can only get three months of SNAP in three years. Community Legal Services of Philadelphia (CLS) has created a digital toolkit to help consumers and advocates understand the new rules.
