When: Tuesday, October 13 from 12:45 – 2:15 pm and 2:30 – 4:00 pm

Explore two timely Clinical Intensive sessions, at the 2026 PACHC Annual Conference and Clinical Summit, designed to help health center leaders and clinicians navigate emerging challenges in patient care and community health. First, Heat, Haze, and Healthcare: Strengthening Health Center Preparedness Through Tabletop Exercises will provide practical guidance on preparing for extreme weather events, including prolonged heat waves and poor air quality. Participants will take part in an interactive tabletop exercise led by experts from Dr. George Garrow, Erik Leeds, and Erica Husser, examining emergency response strategies, continuity of operations, community coordination, and regulatory preparedness requirements.

Following the preparedness session, Beyond the Cure: Redefining What It Means to Care will explore the critical role of palliative care in supporting patients with serious illness. Led by Dr. George Garrow, this discussion will challenge participants to consider how healthcare teams can balance life-extending treatments with patient goals, values, and quality of life. Together, these sessions offer valuable insights for strengthening both organizational resilience and patient-centered care.
